It came

The red car was delivered.

I am actually very happy with the whole experience. The salesman kept us informed and checked on all that he could but it took a week for it to get delivered. That is a long time when you are waiting for a new car.

The other thing that was good was that it wasn't dumped into the sea.

I have already driven it 420 miles and filled up up the tank once. Up until then, I did not even need to put gas in it. Score......

Waiting for a new car

We went to a dealership on Saturday and arranged to get a new car. It was almost painless. But......they did not have one in the color we wanted. But....they expected it to come in on Monday.

Monday came ...... no car.
Tuesday came ...... no car.
I called the salesman and said what is the deal? He said it was in Portland but had not been loaded on a transport yet.
I offered to go get it. He did not think the Longshoremen would allow that.
Wednesday came .... no car.

How many longshoremen does it take to unload a red car? 27, do you have a problem with that??!!??!!

Maybe tomorrow

Buying a car

I don't like to shop for a new car. It is intimidating and I always feel that I am going to have a great hastle. Getting on line helps a little but whenever you do any kind of inquiry, you need to identify yourself and then get on a ton of emailings.

My wife and I went to a place that seemed to be the least "in your face" on the website and it was a very nice experience. We did not drive away with a car but my wife and I are still talking to each other.

The car we want won't be here until next week. It's red.

More to come.....

Doctor Visit

I started to panic a couple of weeks ago because no matter what I did yielded a high blood sugar. I called and got an appointment for today. The doctor's nurse called and reversed my meds to a previous med. Following that, my blood sugars got better.

I was almost feeling silly to have gotten an early appointment.

It went well and I was able to learn something and hope all is well. I don't know what is happening with my legs but she is going to give me another referal to a neurologist. He is the same one who did the tazer test (EMG). Perhaps a new one will register some improvement.

Physical Theropy is going good and I am getting some strength.

I am still slow on the stairs.

old house - new house

So I haven’t been on for a while. Not that nothing is happening in my life.

We have decided to move to a house on one level. We have lived in this house for 35 years and it is a great house but time for us to move on. We started out by looking at some houses that are for sale around. Finally, we created a list of 23 things we wanted in a new house or that we definitely didn’t want in a new house. We prayed over the list.

We went out and found a house that had 23 out of 23. It was quite a conviction.

We planned on putting our current house on the market the first of March. After we found a house we wanted and had made an offer on it, we decided to hurry up and get our house ready. No one including ourselves believed we could do it.

If you would like to see, look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcGvDGEAq_4

What happened to our offer on the new house? What indeed. It seems the house is being sold as a short sale. The amount the house is on the market for is less than the amount owed to the bank. Not exactly, our problem but it means that a bank has to have a say in accepting our offer.

It’s been 5 weeks since we made the offer. We wait and pray but we still have some things to do on this house so we are not idle.

Ideally, we would like these two transactions to occur at the same time. Sell our house and get possession of the new one within a week or two of each other.

Keep us in your prayers.

New House?

So we started looking at houses. Not very seriously because ours is not on the market yet. It takes a while to deal with 35 years accumulation.

Out of looking at some houses we developed a list of 23 "must haves" and "must not haves". We went to look at a house in the town next to ours. It had all 23.

In order to make an offer, the financials have to be all in place and we have been working on that this week.

On Friday, we made an offer.

Now we pray and wait. Prayer is easy. Waiting is something else.

Meanwhile we continue to pick and pack things away and reduce some of our clutter so the spacious rooms we have will look spacious to the casual observer.

On the move

One of the results of my problems with my legs is that I need to get on a single floor. My house is a split level which means I have to climb six steps to get to my front door. Then I can go upstairs or downstairs.

After living here for 35 years, the concept of moving is a little foreign. We did two things: Started the process of downsizing and cleaning and looking at houses. Naturally, we found a house we liked early in the process.

We will see what comes next....
